Yuexiu converges high-end health and medical resources in South China, with 406 medical institutions of different levels and types, taking up 1/3 of the city' s medical resources. It has one-third of the key construction hospitals under the "Dengfeng Plan" in the province, and one-third of the Grade III hospitals in the city which constitute a medical and healthcare system with reason­able layout and distinct functions.

        Yuexiu possesses 406 medical institutions of different kinds and levels such as the First Affiliated Hospital, the Second Affiliated Hospital, Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, Cancer Center of Sun Yat-sen University, Guangdong Provincial People' s Hospital and Guangzhou people' s hospitals. There are 18 community healthcare service centers and 6 specialized hospitals under the district such as Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, Orthopedics and Traumatology Rehabilitation Hospital, and Children' s Hospital of Yuexiu District.
